Delta Esparza (USA)
I became enamored with AR when I was a child. Back then, in my PJ's and bike helmet,I would spend countless hours watching marathon episodes of Eco-Challenge. In 2004, while living in Minnesota, I participated in my first AR race. After a few years of racing Minnesota's infinite green rolling valleys and deep blue lakes I moved to sunny San Diego. In 2007, I met Barrie from team Equinox and have been racing with Equinox ever since. In addition to racing I also enjoy helping Equinox organize free AR events in San Diego and Baja Mexico.  If you ever attend an Equinox race, look for the gynormous blue canopy. Most likely you will find me pouring over maps, cleaning gear, munching on power bars, or laughing with Barrie and Steve. Stop by the blue canopy and say "Hola!".

I currently race 12hr-24hr (45-95+ miles) ARs and am working toward competing in expedition (300+ miles) ARs in 2010. My long term goals are:  to race Primal Quest USA and Eco-Motion Brasil (sometime in the next 6 years). I also hope to become an international AR racer (like fellow racers Paul Romero and Karen Lundgren from Team Sole) and race in places like Brasil, Abu Dhab, Costa Rica, Africa, and Patagonia. Yes I like to dream big :) I am fond of AR because it is a team-oriented sport that never fails to test my physical and mental limits. And crossing the finish line is euphoric. In the mean time I work as an aerospace engineer, am a board director for a San Diego non-profit, and am a full time MBA grad student.
