Peaks and Valleys 2008 - Saturday April 12

Here are the results from the race on Saturday. I know I have the correct times for those who got all control points but I may be incorrect on those who skipped a control or two; on their time or exactly how many points they went to. The scoring below places those with more controls ahead of those with less.

This was the first Peaks and Valleys and we plan on putting it on again next year. You now have course records to try and break. Dave and Lynn had a fine race and their strategy had them finish in 2 hours 12 minutes. Ann and Ian did really well on their bikes and they finished in 4 hours 10 minutes. Running, the group of Larry, Kevin, Colin and Rodney now hold the course record at 5 hours 13 minutes. Aaron Nowlin was doing well until he ran out of water and almost fainted going up Kwaay Paay. Thankfully he turned around and came to the finish.

I expect the runners will be fighting to go under 5 hours next year and solo bike will be a good contest as racers try to go sub 4 hours.

Well done everyone, especially as the weather got warmer and warmer, with a high of 98.4 in Santee (the closest weather station).
